1. His full name is William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto. He was born on December 21, 1966, in Sambut village, Kamagut, Kenya, to parents Daniel Cheruiyot and Sarah Cheruiyot.

2. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Zoology, a Master of Science degree in Plant Ecology, and a PhD, all from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

3. In 1991, he married his wife, Rachel Chebet Ruto, who is an educationist.

4. He contested and won the presidential election under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after leaving his previous party, the Jubilee Party, in 2021.

5. His political career began in 1992 when he served as the treasurer of "YK'92," a political campaign group dedicated to the re-election of the former president, Daniel Arap Moi.

6. In 1997, he ran for a parliamentary seat and defeated the incumbent, Reuben Chesire.

7. He served as the acting president of Kenya from October 5 to October 8, 2014, during President Uhuru Kenyatta's absence at the Hague.

8. Throughout his career, he has held various ministerial positions, including Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Agriculture, and Minister for Higher Education, respectively.
